Adult Counselling

At times, life can become overwhelming for many different reasons. Maybe you are struggling to manage daily activities, relationships or social situations. Perhaps you’ve experienced significant loss or multiple losses. Whatever issue you face, we can help you explore your difficulties at a pace that is right for you. Therapy aims to clarify your feelings and emotions so that you can understand what you are experiencing.

We offer a compassionate, safe and non-judgmental confidential space where you can begin a journey of self-discovery. We use a person-centred therapeutic approach and can integrate creative methods to explore and discover new ways of being.

Adolescents and Young People

Life can feel very challenging for young people today. Transitioning from primary to secondary school, sixth form or Further Education can be daunting and overwhelming. Expectations can change and the support networks that previously existed are often no longer available. Transitioning at this age can leave you feeling overwhelmed, and distressed or confused.

You might be experiencing problems at school, issues with your friends or your parents. Perhaps you are not feeling like yourself and feel something has changed within you. Therapy lets you talk about how you feel, separate from school and home life and can help you get back to enjoying life.

Child Counselling

If your child is struggling it can be a worrying time as a parent. It might feel like a big step to reach out to a counsellor or therapist. Plenty of children undergo counselling at some point and for all sorts of reasons. Therapy involves talking or exploring using art and other creative materials – feelings, thoughts and experiences. This helps your child understand what’s going on in their life.

We help them find ways of coping when things are difficult and we work in various ways: utilising creative materials, play, sand trays, puppetry and games to enable your child to explore, express and gain an understanding of their world. We work with your child empathetically at their pace in our private practice rooms, so they feel totally at ease.

Primary and Secondary School Counselling

At Castle Counselling we work in various ways with school children to enable them to make sense of their world: utilising art, puppetry, sand trays and other creative ideas. We can also work with individuals or groups to build resilience. Therapy within secondary schools is proven to bring about a significant reduction in psychological distress (DfE, 2016).

We recognise the difficulties and challenges that young people experience. Transitioning from Primary to Secondary school; the fundamental physical changes a young person may be experiencing alongside a constantly evolving world. We offer a safe place where young people can explore, gain understanding and grow.
